Christ is, indeed, the Christian’s greatest treasure. The more we behold Him, the more we are driven to worship, praise, and adore Him. Until we truly partake of His wondrous Person and amazing Work on our behalf, we won’t appreciate Him and worship Him. As Piper comments, we might make a delicious meal and “tell” people that the meal is delicious, but until they “taste” it, they won’t truly know that it is, in fact, delicious. The book is filled with deep and profound “gleanings” from the heart of a faithful pastor.īut perhaps the most impactful aspect of this book was its focus on not only “seeing” Christ, but also “savoring” Him. Pastor John is a godly man whose heart has been drenched with the truths of this book, and he has counseled many Christians on the importance of seeing Jesus, not only for their salvation but also their sanctification.
